Blumenthal's backer opens Bucks pub
Heston Blumenthal's business partner at the Hinds Head in Bray has backed a new pub opening.
James Lee has opened the Beeches Grill in Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire. He has bought the Enterprise lease with friend Tristan Bishop, who is director of the business.
Head chef is Borja Letamendia, who has been working with Marco Pierre White for a year and previously worked at the Hinds Head under former head chef Clive Dixon.
The pub has a capacity for 150 covers excluding a function room and two meeting rooms. The site has been refurbished including the main bar area, which has a new wooden floor and stainless steel and zinc bar area.
"We have opened up the bar area," said Bishop. "It had been closed for four or five months before we took it on, so it is a case of communicating to people that we are open again."
The pub has a Mediterranean food focus and serves tapas such as grilled red peppers, black pudding & Parmesan cheese (£4.80). Starters including tomato stuffed with mozzarella and pesto dressing (£3.80).
The site also has a charcoal grill oven to cook prime Scotch steaks (£16.95 to £19.95), burgers (£9.95) and spatchcock chicken (£14.50).
There are also more traditional pub dishes on offer such as venison sausages with mash & onion gravy (£12.50) and beer-battered halibut with tartare sauce & French fries (£8.95).
Desserts offer chocolate tart with hazelnut ice cream (£5.50) and panna cotta with poached apricots (£5.60)
A Spanish food and wine tasting event will be held on 22 February to further raise awareness of the pub being under new ownership.
Three times Ham Carving World Champion from Real Jamon, Florencio Sanchidrian, will demonstrate his art at the event.
