Wychwood will be hosting the Alternative Wedding of the Year for one lucky couple on the same day that Wills and Kate tie the knot.

Wychwood brewery is running the competition to celebrate Hobgoblin's status as the Unofficial Beer of Weddings.

The Wychwood-themed wedding on 29 April will be held near the brewery in Witney, Oxfordshire.

It is worth £20,000 and up to 30 guests will be catered for with a hog roast and plenty of ale. The ceremony and reception will held at the Old Swan, which is part of the old Swan and Minister Mill boutique hotel.

Wychwood characters will be in attendence at the ceremony — officiated by the Hobgoblin himself.

Other highlights include a blessing of the wedding beer at the brewery and a wedding procession from there to nearby village Old Minister.

Couples have until 17 March to apply for the wedding. Three selected couples will then compete for the most votes from 21 to 27 March.

The winning couple will be announced and interviewed live on Kerrang radio and have five weeks to prepare themselves for the wedding, which will be broadcast online.
