Easy-to-use GP calculator for licensees after Budget
MA forum poster and blogger Publican Sam has updated his easy-to-use GP calculator for fellow licensees to coincide with the 7.5% hike in beer duty announced in yesterday's Budget.
He first put the calculator together to help licensees deal with the VAT rise from 17.5% to 20% in January.
The calculator now allows licensees to enter up to 10 main draught lines to find out the overall effect of pricing on the GP and GP%.
It also allows the user to create a selling price that suits the locality and work out how many extra pints must be sold to maintain an overall gross cash profit — if they decide to absorb some of the increase.
"It's set to print off on two pages and includes a ready reckoner for mark up to achieve desired GP%," said Publican Sam.
"With best intentions to help struggling publicans and none to Mr Osborne."
