Three gastropubs called the Swan are among the front runners in nominations for the Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Award.

There is a month left for licensees to encourage their diners to support them before the nominations close. Nominations are made across ten regions.

At the halfway stage nominations include:

• The Swan Inn, Monks Eleigh, Suffolk in the East region. The pub is run by Carol and Nigel Ramsbottom.

• The Swan Inn in Chiddingfold, Surrey is among the four front runners in the South East region. Head chef is Spencer Ralph.

• The Swan at Southrop, Gloucestershire, is in the top four nominations for the South West region. The pub was last year's overall Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year.

The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Award recognises culinary excellence and good service at restaurants, pubs and cafés across the UK.

The award gives people the opportunity to nominate their favourite local establishment across the UK regions, with the criteria that restaurants should be independently run and offer local produce where possible.

Last year's awards saw more than 25,000 members of the public nominating their favourite restaurants.

The closing date for nominations is 29 April 2011. Nominations can be made online at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/awards.
