A man fell 50 feet to his death from a fourth floor balcony at Tiger Tiger in Manchester at the weekend.

A man fell 50 feet to his death at Tiger Tiger in Manchester at the weekend.

Alex Lawes from Buckinghamshire fell over the balcony railings inside the four-floor club at around 10.30pm on Saturday 2 April.

He later died in hospital from serious head inuries.

A Greater Manchester Police statement said: "At 10.30pm on Saturday 2 April 2011, police were called following reports a man had fallen from a balcony inside Tiger Tiger in Manchester city centre.

"Officers attended and discovered a 22-year-old man had been taken to Hope Hospital for treatment to a serious head injury but sadly died a short time later.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."

A spokesman for Tiger Tiger said: "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"We would like to thank the emergency services who attended on the night and the staff at Tiger Tiger who did all they could to help following this tragic accident.

"Tiger Tiger takes the safety of our customers very seriously, and we will continue to work closely with all relevant authorities to ensure their security and wellbeing."

Lawes was due to fly out to Jamaica two days after the incident where he had planned to propose to his girlfriend.
