Tailor Made Steaks takes third Brakspear pub

Oxfordshire-based pub company Brakspear has let its third pub to multiple operator Tailor Made Steaks.

A £250,000 redevelopment has seen the White Hart in Nettlebed near Henley-on-Thames transformed from a traditional village inn to "a light and airy pub-restaurant-hotel", the company said. The outlet has a 120-cover restaurant, two informal drinking and dining areas and a fully-equipped conference room.

Tailor Made Steaks, led by Ted Docherty and Dion Korving, lets customers 'tailor make' their meal by selecting their preferred cut and weight of steak from a dedicated counter in the restaurant, with advice from an expert member of staff. The steak is then cooked to their liking and served with their choice of sauce, vegetables and other side orders.

The food menu also lists chicken and fish dishes, burgers, a range of sandwiches and vegetarian options.

Tailor Made Steaks also operates Brakspear pubs the Chequers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire; the Inn on the Hill in Haslemere, Surrey. In addition, it runs the Warwick in Clutton, near Bristol, a Greene King pub.

Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said: "We're delighted with the results of our investment in the White Hart, and pleased to be working once again with Ted and Dion, whose talent for developing successful pubs has been evident in the other Brakspear sites they operate."

Docherty said: "This is a great addition to the quality pubs and restaurants on the Henley scene, being only five minutes from the town centre with a large car park. We are looking forward to welcoming the residents of Henley to a pub restaurant that offers a lot more than great steaks."

Meanwhile, Brakspear said the major refurbishments undertaken at two of the site's 12 rooms will be used as a blueprint for its other pubs with accommodation.
