Ossett Brewery in third Hop site plan
Ossett Brewery, the Yorkshire brewer and pub operator, is looking to open its third Hop concept pub in Sheffield's West One shopping and leisure complex.
The company, which currently operates 14 pubs in the region, has reportedly drawn up plans to convert a former Budgens supermarket into its third Hop.
The first Hop opened in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in 2009, with a second launched last year in Leeds — both are high-volume leased venues.
The 400-cover Wakefield venue is situated in a cobbled street with Georgian architecture and a private courtyard.
It has a total of three trading rooms and serves a host of award-winning ales over nine handpulls.
The 2,500sq ft Leeds pub is situated at the Granary Wharf development and features 10 handpulls, Continental lagers and a range of wines.
The Hop concept was created in 2008 by Jamie Lawson, director of Ossett Brewery, Mike Heaton, drummer with the Yorkshire indie band Embrace and the former Virgin Entertainment Japan managing director Mike Inman.
The concept is based on local ales and live music. Ossett Brewery was founded in 1997 by ex-Tetley (Leeds) brewer Bob Lawson, who is now company chairman.
