Moorhouse's £4.2m brewery
Moorhouse's, the Lancashire brewer, has opened a new £4.2m brewery, visitor centre and bistro.
The new development will treble its production capacity to more than 1,000 barrels a week — the equivalent of 15 million pints a year — and create 23 new full and part-time jobs.
When Bill Parkinson bought Moorhouse's in 1985, the brewery produced just 10 barrels a week.
In recent years Moorhouse's has scooped some top awards, including the Supreme Champion gong for its Black Cat ale last year. Parkinson said the brewery must justify the investment by lifting sales.
Managing director David Grant said: "Burnley will become famed as the home of top-quality cask ales and our visitor centre will be a significant attraction."
