Heineken UK has made a £10,000 donation towards the running costs of the Licensed Trade Charity's helpline in 2011. The contribution will cover the cost of providing guidance and information on a range of issues including housing, state benefits, illness and debt.

Through the Scottish and Newcastle Pub Company (S&NPC), Heineken UK will use the funding to help those in the trade more directly and learn more about how donations to the charity are distributed.

Stephen Spencer-Jones, trading director of Heineken UK, said: "At a very reasonable cost, the charity provides invaluable support and signposting to those in the trade facing very difficult circumstances.

As well as funding this project, a number of representatives from Heineken are going to spend time with the Support & Care team to learn more about how they help people".

The charity's Support & Care team provide guidance to around 700 people from the trade every year. For more information visit www.supportandcare.org or call 01344 898550.
