Stonegate Pub Company has reopened a Kent pub has following an extensive £150,000 refurbishment.

The Danson Stables in Danson Park, Bexleyheath, closed for two and a half weeks while the pub was redecorated, redesigned and new furniture was added, in keeping with the Grade II listed building. A plum colour was chosen inside "to complement the look and feel" of the 135-cover building and the seating areas have been kitted out with leather and wooden furniture.

The bar was reworked to make it more functional and new plants and topiary were introduced at the front of the building (100 covers) with the back (60 covers) spruced up as well.

Evening service has been introduced to the pub with food being served from 10am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday and until 9.30pm on Sundays.

The menu includes dishes from a range of cuisines including Jamaican stew (£7.95), beer battered fish & chips (£7.75) and a host of sharing platters, such as mezzo (£9.95) and fristo misto platters (£11.95). The menu will change next month, but retain a similar focus.

Stonegate Pub Company chairman Ian Payne was present at the launch, along with licensee Kerry Bird and area manager Marcus Helps.

"We've been focusing heavily on the quality," said Bird. "It's a fantastic menu and we're going make the best of it."
