The Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations (FLVA) will now be charging £350 to £500 for some of its premium services, such as rent-review negotiations.

The fee will only apply if negotiations are successful and members will be made aware of the charges and payment flexibility at the beginning.

Negotiations can be over anything from issues with employment law to renegotiating lease deals with pubcos.

The FLVA said that it is receiving an increasing number of calls for support because of the state of the industry, and feels the charges are necessary to cover costs such as travel and administration.

In the past 12 months the FLVA has secured annual savings of more than £450,000.

Membership costs £150 each year per outlet.

FLVA president Nigel Williams said: "Case work such as this has always been at the heart of the work we undertake for our members but does involve considerable additional costs for the association.

"This initiative will allow us to secure this valuable members' service and help make others within the trade aware of the benefits of FLVA membership."
