Moleface pub doubles pizza sales with new menu

A Nottinghamshire Moleface pub has doubled its pizza sales over the weekend after introducing a new menu.

The Lord Nelson in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, converted a disused outhouse in the pub garden into a pizza parlour over a year ago.

The Enterprise site always had an innovative pizza menu with British-inspired toppings such as the full English, and launched a new menu over the weekend that has proved even more popular.

New toppings include Mozzarella & sundried tomatoes (£7.95), steak & Stilton with red onion & rocket (£9.95) and the most popular pizza of smoked salmon, black pepper cream cheese & spring onions (£9.95), which accounted for 70 pizzas sold over the weekend.

The full English with bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato & egg (£9.95) remains, along with Deano's meat feast, named after the general manager, which has been updated with barbecue sauce and chillies in addition to the original smoked bacon, sausage and Chorizo (£9.95).

The pub sold 140 pizzas from Friday to Sunday, as opposed to a usual 70 to 80 thanks to the good weather and new menu.

A pizza of the week has also been introduced, which is anchovies, olives and red pepper this week.

General manager Dean Thacker said: "They have been flying out. The garden was full because we had good weather so people see the pizza parlour and that helped sales."

Flyers were sent out prior to the launch to advertise the new pizza menu.
