Gastropub awards launched for 2012

The Publican's Morning Advertiser has began its search for Britain's top 50 gastropubs, in partnership with Budweiser Budvar UK.

The awards, which are now in their fourth year, have established themselves as the leading event for the premium end of the UK food-led pub trade and are based on the results of a poll of top experts.

The PMA's editor, The PMA Team said: "These awards really are the industry's choice and it is fantastic for the gastropubs voted into the top 50 to get recognition from such a prestigious panel of voters."

The awards also include Gastropub Chef of the Year and Highest Climber which will be selected from the top 50 list.

Voting is now underway and will continue until the end of September, with the pubs who have made the top 50 list to be announced at an awards lunch at the Olde Bell Inn, Hurley, Berkshire, on Monday, 6 February 2012.

A special gastropub issue of the PMA, to be published on Thursday, 9 February, will unveil the top gastropubs and hail their success.

8226Newcomer of the year - Recognises gastropubs that have been open for 18 months and have made good investment and offered the best promotions, events and marketing intiatives.

8226Business innovation - Identifies gastropubs that have shown strong business innovation in the past year. Judges will be looking at how a specific initiative has helped boost trade and brought other benefits to the business.

8226Front-of-house manager - Awarding top gastropub managers who make a vital contribution to the success of their pub's business and help deliver excellent service at their pub.
