Olympics and terrorism to dominate National Pubwatch conference
The challenges of the Olympics and issues surrounding terrorism will be tackled at the National Pubwatch Conference 2012.

The event, which will be held at the Guildhall in the City of London on 7 February next year, will feature a range of top names including the Met’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Osborne, who has agreed to speak on policing the hospitality sector.

British Beer & Pub Association chief executive Brigid Simmonds will give a view on how the relationship between pubcos and Pubwatch benefits the trade. The event will also offer two practical workshops for licensees on a range of issues.

Lee Doddridge, of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, will discuss the development of the
‘vulnerability self-assessment tool’, which helps licensees identify any potential vulnerabilities to their premises from acts of terrorism.

London Drug and Alcohol Policy Forum policy adviser David MacIntosh will discuss drugs, Chief Inspector Colin Green, who is on the Olympic and Paralympic policing co-ordination team, will look at how pubs can keep safe during the Games, while Christopher Thompson, district crown prosecutor in Buckinghamshire, will discuss sentencing guidelines.

Andrew Nicholls, head of security at Mitchells & Butlers, will talk about risk assessments.
