Fair Pinters launch new business to help pubco tenants
The two chartered surveyors also sat on the recent Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Trade Valuation Group to establish guidelines on setting pub rents.
The move to establish Morgan Clarke comes after the retirement of Morgan’s boss at Cookseys DMP — chairman Vincent Rex due to ill health after 46 years in the licensed property market.
Simon Clarke will also keep on his pub — the Eagle Ale House in Battersea — an Enterprise leased pub he runs with business partner Dave Law.
Morgan Clarke will also be joined by former BII membership development consultant Nigel Wakefield, Punch licensee Dave Mountford who was involved in a long running dispute with the pubco, and personal debt expert Chris Wright.
The company will have offices in Stroud, Gloucestershire; London; Cardiff; Braunton, North Devon; Derby and Lewes, Sussex.
“Nothing beats practical experience,” said Morgan. “No other chartered surveying firm comes close to us. We have all either operated or currently operate, pubs and restaurants”.
He added: “Aside from lease renewals and rent reviews, we cover every other aspect in licensed and leisure property throughout England and Wales.”
Simon Clarke said: “The new firm is ideally placed to monitor both the new select committee recommendations and ensure maximum possible RICS regulation compliance despite avoidance at grass roots level.
“As you would expect, with few out there assisting tenants and offering a wholly independent service from the pubcos, we have hit the ground running with a large number of active instructions.”
