The Milestone Cookery School has added more courses to its repertoire after a significant uptake in people signing up.

The team behind the Milestone and Wig & Pen in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, relaunched the school earlier this year to include a more diverse range of courses. Expert chefs run all the classes, which are held at the Wig & Pen.

Increased uptake could be due to a 12% rise in the number of homecooked meals in the last three years, according to research.

“The great thing about our cookery school is that participants receive expert tuition and learn skills for life that they can use to cook a wider variety of dishes at home,” said co-owner Matt Bigland.

“One of the most popular classes we devised and added to the programme is the Make and Take course. Participants get to create a meal from scratch in 90 minutes that they can then take home and enjoy. We run the Make and Take classes in the evening from 6pm so people can come along after work.

Classes will end in October and start again in January. They last from two hours to a full day and are open to people over 16. Day courses cost £110 a person and include coffee on arrival, lunch with wine and afternoon coffee, ending at 4pm.
