M&J Seafood has added an online video demonstration of filleting fish on its website.

It is the first foodservice supplier to do this and will update the portal regularly with tutorial videos demonstrated by the company’s top fishmongers.

It launched with filleting masterclasses for common types of fish, such as salmon, seabass and sea bream. The portal also includes nine seasonal recipe demonstrations for key menu occasions throughout the year, starting with Christmas.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance our customer experience and provide knowledge to the industry,” said Clare Twiss, marketing manager.

“M&J Seafood specialist fishmongers enable the company to offer a bespoke filleting service, providing ready-prepared fish and seafood to a customer’s exact specification. However, we understand that more chefs want to grow their knowledge base and know more about filleting fish themselves, which is the reason for us to create this portal.

“Many chefs can be intimidated by the prospect of filleting several different types of fish and our new portal aims to help and support them. As fish and seafood specialists, we’ve devised these tutorial videos which are demonstrated by our own award-winning fishmongers to educate and refresh skills to help up-skill those working in the pub and restaurant trade.”

The videos are free to view online at www.mjseafood.com/filleting.
