Wadworth Brewery has opened a cookery school in Wiltshire to support company chefs and build up the food offer across its managed and tenanted estate.

The 10-station kitchen is behind the visitors’ centre at the brewery in Devizes and will be run by catering development manager Scott Ferguson.

The kitchen will support Wadworth publicans and help build a quality standard of food across the estate to help consistency between pubs. Chefs will be invited in groups to attend training sessions and cooking seminars to learn and share experiences.

Groups will be led by Scott or chef John Furby.

Scott also plans to open the school to the public and offer corporate business events and sessions for local people.

“Our aim is to help build confidence in our chefs,” said Scott. “As well as discussing food we will also be talking about the beers, and the new trend for matching beer with food.

“Many pub chefs are quite isolated in their work and we believe that it will be of great benefit to have the opportunity to come together and discuss the issues they face in the workplace.”
