Molson Coors unveils price hikes
Molson Coors has announced it will be increasing its wholesale prices to the on-trade by, on average, £19.99 per barrel, or 7p per pint from 2 January 2012.

This will mean an increase of £19.99 per barrel of Carling and £17.99 for Worthington’s.

David Heede, finance director at Molson Coors UK & Ireland, said: “The increase is due to rising prices that affect all brewers, especially a sharp increase in energy, raw materials and distribution costs.

“Last year, we put through a lower price increase in spite of the rising costs we knew were coming. We have worked hard to absorb these costs to minimise the increase required as we understand the difficult trading conditions facing our customers. Unfortunately, there comes a point when we have to pass some of these on.

“We will continue to take the long term view to grow the beer category and do our best to manage these costs while offering our customers well-supported beer brands.”
