Wadworth pub company is encouraging trade this Christmas with vouchers and free drinks for designated drivers.

Everyone who celebrates their Christmas party at a Wadworth managed pub will be given a strip of vouchers entitling them to a range of special offers in the new year.

They include 20% off food and drink with the next meal, £10 off when spending over £25 on food, free dessert with every main course for up to four people and a free bottle of wine when two or more people have a main course.

“This is an extra special gift to reward the customers who have celebrated their Christmas parties with us,” said operations manager Rupert Bagnall. “January is generally pretty dark and gloomy, but its always warm and cosy in a pub, so we hope these vouchers will encourage people to make the most of their locals in the cold winter months.”

And in a move to encourage people to hold their christmas celebrations at Wadworth pubs, the company is offering free soft drinks to designated drivers throughout December at all managed pubs, in association with Coca-Cola's Desingated Driver campaign. To claim free drinks, parties must simply introduce their driver to the bar staff on arrival.

“Many pubs are situated in rural areas and are easier to get to in a car, but they make ideal places for groups of friends to get together and celebrate the festive season,” said Bagnall.

“In line with our responsible drinking policy we want to ensure that our customers make their way home safely, so we strongly recommend that all groups nominate a designated driver who agrees not to drink alcohol for the evening. We will supply as many soft drinks as the driver wants so that he or she remains sharp and alert for the journey home.

“As we are constantly reminded by the Police and the seasonal television advertisements, drinking and driving can be a lethal combination, and we at Wadworth do not want any of our customers to end up in an accident that could have been avoided.”
