Thatchers Cider has introduced a 20-litre bag-in-box for its Heritage draught cider to give publicans greater flexibility behind the bar.

The bag alleviates the need to return casks or barrels, and can be easily linked to an existing hand-pull system, or even served straight from the box, the cider maker claimed. It also extends shelf life by keeping the cider fresh under vacuum.

Thatchers Heritage is a 4.9% ABV traditional Somerset cider made from specially selected apples and matured in Thatchers 100-year-old oak vats.

Managing director Martin Thatcher said: “We hope that this initiative will allow more publicans throughout the country to benefit from the increasing demand for quality draught cider.

“We will be looking to extend the range over coming months.”
