Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company (S&NPC) has introduced a new accounts and stocktaking package for its lessees to give them more control of their business.

Innside Track offers monthly rather than quarterly accounts, stocktaking of food as well as liquor, and benchmarking reports against lessees’ business plans.

The new approach, which is similar to that used in S&NPC’s managed sites, is designed to flag up issues and opportunities early and “convert more of their income into profit”.

All reports will come with an analysis of how the business is performing against key performance indicators such as gross profit, break-even point and expenses.

Concerns will be highlighted and, where possible, recommendations for improvement provided, said S&NPC. Reports will be reviewed with the service provider or business development manager at least nine times in the first year.

S&NPC’s head of business support Chris Sladen said: “In a tough economic climate, it is more important than ever that lessees are able to react quickly to changes in their business and market. Early identification of small problems allows them to be dealt with before they become big issues; relying on information that is three or four months old is no longer good enough.”

Sladen added: “Food represents an increasingly large part of the business for many operators. Including food in our stocktaking service will enable our lessees to maximise the profits they make from their hard work in this area.”

Innside Track is open to all S&NPC operators and is required for all new lessees.
S&NPC is providing the package to its lessees in 2012 without any increase in price on 2011. The company is also managing the contracts on its lessees’ behalf.
