London 2012 Olympics: Day 10 of pub landlady Janet Dooner's diary
Trade was very good yesterday, we got absolutely slaughtered at lunchtime and had our first lot of tourists in - they were Australian male hockey fans and they said they would be in again today if they won.
There must have been about 40 of them. They just hit us at 11am which we didn’t expect, but they found us so we were quite happy with that.
The Orbit was absolutely wonderful - it was such a lovely day and you could see for miles. It was a good job I had my binoculars.
I am going up to USA House in Kensington this evening with the University of East London (UEL) which will be a bit of a break for me.
UEL has a partnership with the USA Team - they have built a huge sports complex at UEL called Sports Deck which is a fantastic facility and is going to make UEL one of the top sports colleges, which is not a surprise given its location.
I was with the London Development Corporation yesterday and they had a nice full-scale model of what the area is going to look like after the Games.
They were talking about whether to keep the park open after the Olympics - I think it should be left open for a month or two so people can come and have a look at it. I don’t see why they couldn’t do that.
I think we are going to be very busy this weekend. We have got extra staff on this evening because Friday is usually our busiest evening, although last week we were relatively quiet on the locals side.
But we are pleased with how we have done so far. An MP asked me yesterday how our trade was and I told him we were doing quite well.
