Greene King to give away MGB car in Old Speckled Hen pub promotion
Participating outlets will receive point-of-sale material to promote the competition that directs customers to a competition page on the Old Speckled Hen website. A further 1,000 consumers will win limited-edition “Old Speckled Hen” Corgi collectors die-cast models as runners up prizes.
The campaign celebrates 50 years of the MGB model and is being supported by social media, including an interactive Twitter account hosted by the brand’s fox character Old Speckled Henry.
"Old Speckled Hen started life as a commemorative beer to mark the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon," explained marketing director, Dom South. "It took its distinctive name from the “Owld Speckled Un” - an old canvas-covered MG used by employees as the factory run-around, which was often parked outside the factory paint shop and consequently splattered with flecks of paint."
