A female bartender from Henry’s in Sheffield has triumphed in the UK final of the Stella Artois World Draught Masters competition.

Simone Mahdi beat 16 bartenders to take the title in the final last week. She will now represent the UK in the global final in Canada, for the chance to spend a year travelling around the world as a Stella Artois brand ambassador.

“Since the prestigious competition started back in 1997, no one from the UK has ever taken home the World Draught Masters crown, but I intend to change that,” Mahdi said.

Stella Artois brewer AB InBev is hoping to generate some consumer excitement around the competition by inviting Stella Artois drinkers to upload photos of perfectly poured pints of the lager to a specially created Stella Artois Connoisseur Facebook application.

The winners will receive a limited edition Connoisseur Chalice glass.
