The Black Swan in Ravenstonedale, Cumbria has scooped AA Pub of the Year at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Pub owners Alan and Louise Dinnes impressed judges with the food, atmosphere and high standard of management at the pub. The Black Swan boasts “good honest cooking and local seasonal ingredients” with a selection of local real ales on tap.

The pub has been fully refurbished with a grant from Prince of Wales charity Pub is the Hub.

The Inn at Penallt in Monmouth, Monmouthshire won the top spot in Wales. Andrew and Jackie Murphy have run it for three years with a high standard of hospitality, quality food and plenty of real ales and cider.

The Scottish winner was West Brewery in Glasgow, which serves food os a german and European theme in a large beer hall. Judges found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
