A new Carling font is being rolled out over the next two years, at a cost of £5m to brewer Molson Coors.

The new design will start to appear around the country from now, along with new glassware that was revealed in April.

The push comes ahead of a quality drive for next year, which aims to ensure that punters get a perfect pint of Carling every time.

“We are championing lager and invigorating the beer category, having invested in both new fonts and glassware this year,” said Jeremy Gibson, Carling brand director.

“Carling is the UK’s bestselling lager, a position it has maintained for more than three decades, and we’re committed to working with publicans and barstaff to ensure their customers get the perfect serve every time.”

The brewer will be installing the fonts in tens of thousands of outlets and claims they can deliver an extra £1,000 in sales of Carling in each bar over the course of a year.

“The font has been designed to provide the very best pour and complements the new glassware. Together they ensure that Carling lives up to its ‘brilliantly refreshing’ billing from the first sip right to the bottom of the glass,” said Gibson.

To help promote the new “modern and attractive” design it is searching for licensees and barstaff who go the extra mile, and is asking the industry to nominate people online via the brand’s Facebook page.
