Novel features include separate booths that are aimed at families and more contemporary ornaments and décor, including some softer furnishings. Under-bar lighting has also been added, while ceiling lights change colour during trading.
The skillet emblem has been incorporated into the new carpet design and on signage. The refurb cost significantly under £500,000.
M&B said this is not intended to be a new look for Sizzling, which has around 200 pubs in the UK, but a chance to try new designs. Like other Sizzling pubs, Smithy’s Forge is segmented into different areas for drinkers and diners.
