EBLEX has launched an app to enable pub chefs to order any of 450 beef, lamb, veal or mutton cuts featured in its Meat Purchasing Guide.

Free to download and available from 17 March, the app will simplify ordering and eliminate crossed wires as butchers will see exactly what the chef wants through direct links showing cutting specifications with step-by-step guides.

It includes an image and description of each cut and chefs can personalise their app by adding notes or other products such as fish and poultry. Recent purchases are also shown along with cooking advice and other useful features, such as the option to add a ‘favourites’ list.

The launch of the app coincides with the release of the fifth edition of the purchasing guide, which now includes more than 450 cuts of beef, veal, lamb and mutton.

Business development manager for EBLEX Dick van Leeuwen said: "The Meat Purchasing Guide app has been developed to make the meat ordering process quick and easy for chefs, while also providing them with new product ideas. Because it is based on the latest version of the guide it contains over 450 cuts - a fantastic range to choose from!"

The app will be officially launched at IFE 2013, which takes place from 17 to 20 March in London’s ExCel centre.

It is available to download from Google Play and the App Store from 17 March.
