J D Wetherspoon has added a Fish Club to its weekly food offers.

The company is serving freshly battered cod and chips with peas or mushy peas and tartare sauce on Fridays from 12 noon until 10pm, at a cost of £4.99 with a soft drink and £5.99 with an alcoholic drink.

Fish Club joins the company’s three other weekly food clubs -  Curry Club on Thursdays, Steak Club on Tuesdays and Sunday Club.

New dishes have also been added to these club menus. Additions to the steak club menu include a full rack of ribs with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, beer-battered onion rings and chips. New dishes on the Curry Club menu include a poppadum tower and Indian sharer platter.

A new filter coffee offer has also been introduced. It is Lavazza coffee, which is the brand already used by the company.

A spokesman said: “It offers speed of service, which is useful in our busy pubs serving around 30 million cups of coffee a year. It is ideal for people who want black coffee or straightforward white coffee.”

A new menu launched this week features new dishes including peri peri half roast chicken; gourmet hot dog with onion rings and chips and a Tennessee burger.
