Licensee Tracy Daly, who runs Britain’s highest pub, is losing thousands of pounds of trade, due to being snowed in since last Wednesday.

Daly, a worker and four guests have been stranded at the Tan Hill Inn, Yorkshire, since last Wednesday (March 21).

“Not being able to open the pub is obviously costing us thousands,” she said. “It’s not just the profits were losing either. It’s costing us even more to keep warm.

“We can pretty much write-off this week business wise. It really is devastating financially,” she added.

Daly and her guests have dug their cars out from the snow, in the hope that gritters will make the road up to her 1,732 ft high pub usable.

"I’m not holding out too much hope though. There is just so much snow,” she said.

Guests include Alison and Alistair Bignall, who were rescued from their car by Daly and fellow guest Ollie Tempest last Thursday.

“Cabin fever is really starting to set in now, but we’re getting by,” she said.

Daly has recently put the Tan Hill Inn on the market, as she hopes to move south, where she hopes the weather may treat her more kindly.
