The O’Neill’s pub in central Cardiff welcomed a group of British and Irish rugby legends for a special filming of Sky Sports Rugby Club show.

Host Alex Payne was joined by former players Will Greenwood, JJ Williams, Paul Wallace and Dean Ryan, while Scott and Derek Quinnell were given a heroes welcome by the Welsh fans in attendance.

The show centred around the upcoming British and Irish Lions tour, which gets underway in June, live on Sky Sports, with the panel answering questions on who they would pick for the tour on the back of the recent RBS 6 Nations tournament.

O’Neill’s manager Jane McKenna, said: “It was a crazy day, the team showed up at 9am and were rigging up the pub all day. The director had to make sure everything was in the right place – it’s such a quaint little pub that they had to be quite clever with their lighting and take down some TVs so they weren’t reflecting in the shots.

“It’s been fascinating watching everyone setting up, and just getting ready for the masses – it’s been a fun day. For the last Six Nations game the pub was really busy, pretty hectic. We actually had to clean all the ceilings from where everybody had jumped up with their drinks, and today has been pretty busy too.”
