Former directors of Sarumdale, the pubco placed into administration last summer, hope to operate an estate of eight to 10 pubs within the next two years and are looking to secure their first four in June or July.

Mike Lloyd, who ran the West Sussex-based Sarumdale with business partner Rodney Hall before its collapse, told M&C Report they have been in discussion with major pubcos including Star Pubs & Bars and Enterprise.

“I’m hoping I can pick up four at the moment. If things go to plan I should be able to get them sorted out in early June/end of July. “We are looking at leased or tenanted agreements. That’s the only way forward because we don’t have any equity or capital to get freeholds anymore.”

The target is to grow to between eight and 10 sites within a period of 18 months to two years.
