The new Armstrong and Miller Spitfire Ale ads are set to appear on TV screens from Monday (1 July).

Comedy duo Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller are working with the ale brand in the guise of their RAF pilot characters to continue the beer’s tradition of tongue-in-cheek British humour.

The Spitfire ads will be shown on multiple TV channels including Sky Sports, Watch, Sky Atlantic, ESPN and Discovery.

Announcing the campaign earlier this year, Graeme Craig, sales and marketing director at Spitfire Ale, said: “We wanted to retain the humour of the brand but also take it to the next level. Armstrong and Miller’s Spitfire pilots are a match made in heaven. They have this lovely juxtaposition of wartime essence and irreverent in-jokes that is like pub banter.”

Earlier this month, ClearCast, the body that clears TV ads for broadcast, ruled that one of the adverts was “likely to cause offence” to Polish people working in the UK, and was banned from being broadcast.
