Auction: there are 25 freehold pubs going under the hammer next month
Twenty-five freehold pubs are set to go to under the hammer next month at two separate auctions held by Network Auctions and CP Bigwood.

The Network Auction will be held on 4 September at 2pm at the Cumberland Hotel in London, and the pub guide prices range from £150,000 to £375,000.

The pubs are:

• The Swan in Great Chart, Ashford, Kent, at a guide price of £250,000.

• The Queen Victoria in Herne Bay, Kent, guide price £200,000.

• Belmont in Hastings, East Sussex, guide price £150,000.

• Coopers Cask in Maidstone, Kent, guide price £200,000. It is to be sold with vacant possession.

• Prince of Wales in Hythe, Kent, guide price £225,000. It is to be sold with vacant possession.

• The Plough in New Romney, Kent, guide price £300,000.

• Maidens Head, Canterbury, Kent, guide price £300,000.

• French’s Deux in Eastbourne, East Sussex, guide price £225,000.

• The Powell Arms in Birchington, Kent, guide price £240,000.

• North Foreland in Rochester, Kent, guide price £170,000.

• The Horseshoes in Windsor, Berkshire, guide price £325,000 to £350,000. It is to be sold with vacant possession.

• The Flying Dutchman in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, guide price £330,000.

• The Last Post in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, guide price £275,000.

• Antwerp Arms in Tottenham, London guide price £375,000.

The CP Bigwood auction will take place on 5 September at Aston Villa FC in Birmingham, West Midlands.

Many of the pubs do not have published guide prices. They are:

• The Redhill Tavern in Yardley, Birmingham.

• The Royal Oak in Bridgend, Carlton, Nr Bedford, guide price £225,000.

• The Crown Inn in Tingewick, nr Buckingham, guide price £170,000 to £180,000.

• The Beer Engine in Coventry.

• The Saracens Head in Corley Ash, Coventry.

• The Tavern in Stafford.

• The Red Lion in Derrington, Staffordshire.

• The Crown in Houghton Regis in Bedfordshire.

• Fox & Hounds in Charwelton, Daventry.

• The Phoenix in Bedford, guide price £180,000. It offered on behalf of Charles Wells Pub Company.

• The Kings Head, Brierley Hill, guide price £150,000.

The long lease on the Yew Tree Bar in Yardley, Birmingham, is also on offer at a guide price of £270,000. The 150-year lease runs from 7 November 2003 at a peppercorn rent.
