Following a strong summer campaign, cricket legend Sir Ian Botham is looking for a someone to take temporary charge of his role as Whitbread’s Boss of Beef for Beefeater restaurants.

Beefy is on the hunt for an apprentice who can take on the role while he is in Australia covering the forthcoming Ashes battle.

Throughout the summer ‘Beefy’ has been part of the Steak of Success campaign where free steaks were given away after every Ashes Test Match that was won by the British team.

A Bowl Over Beefy event saw Botham host a cricket masterclass with competition winners who were out to impress him with cricket celebration videos.

Botham’s replacement must have an interest in food, drink, sport and Beefeater. Anyone is welcome to apply via www.bossofbeef.co.uk.

"It has been a great summer," Botham told PubChef. "We have been trying to get the message out there that Beefeater is an affordable, quality, fun and family-oriented venue.

"I need an apprentice and the competition will run until the end of October. The winner will be trained at the Whitbread Skills Academy, as I was."
