McCain Foods has won a silver Stevie Award in the Company of the Year Food and Beverage category at the International Business Awards.

The awards aim to raise the profile of exemplery organisations among press, business and the general public.

Judged by more than 200 executives, McCain Foods received an honorary nomination in recognition of its success and the contribution it has made towards reducing its environmental impact.

Bill Bartlett, McCain Foods corporate affairs director, said: "Obtaining recognition at the International Business Awards is a fantastic achievement for McCain Foods and serves as a good indicator for where we are going as a global company. The Stevie Awards are highly sought after and contested by the very best companies across the world so we are delighted to be recognised as a global leader in business.

"Having said that, we recognise that we are only part way through our journey and we are continuing with our efforts to  grow the business, minimise our environmental impact and strengthen the relationships we have with the communities in which we operate, so hopefully the award will act as a springboard for even greater success in the future."

The award will be presented in Barcelona on 14 October.
