The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) had more than 250 people visit its pop-up pub in the first two days of the Liberal Democrat conference.

CAMRA personnel talked to Lib Dems about the importance of beer and pubs, asking them to support a beer-duty freeze, pubco reform and stronger planning protection for pubs.

CAMRA is running a joint reception for MPs with the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group as well a policy debate with business minister Jo Swinson MP and Greg Mulholland MP.

CAMRA head of policy Jonathan Mail said: “Support for pubs and beer among Lib Dems has been overwhelming, with strong backing shown for action to ensure large pubcos treat tied licensees in a fair and reasonable manner. We urged both Nick Clegg MP, Vince Cable MP and many others to pursue pubco reform with the utmost urgency.”
