The Punch Taverns roadshows got off to a successful start with 144 Punch pubs from across the North East attending the first event in Newcastle on 1 October.

Aunit Sandhu, who runs the Dragon pub in Nottingham, took a 380-mile round-trip to visit the show at Newcastle Racecourse and said she has attended the shows since they began 10 years ago.

“I find them beneficial as I get to ask questions and learn tips on everything from saving money to drinks presentation – tools I can take away to help my business grow,” she said.

“I attend the first roadshow every year without fail – wherever it is. I’ve travelled as far as Bolton as well as Newcastle to make sure I get to see the latest products and take advantage of the deals before visiting again at my local event in Nottingham.”

Giveaway

The 2013 roadshow includes new venues, an additional event and features over 130 industry-leading suppliers, ranging from food and drink to support services. Visitors also have the chance to meet members of the Punch Taverns team and operating board.

Punch will be continuing its £5m giveaway this year and each Punch Partner has received a voucher booklet which entitles them to redeem a range of offers, such as free glassware or free bar staff training support on the day.

Flying start

Central operations director Andy Slee said: “We are delighted to be in our tenth year and it’s great to see our roadshow off to a flying start, seeing around 60% of the local Partners come to the first show.

“This year, the roadshow is showcasing many new suppliers, giving our Partners the opportunity to trial lots of new brands and see innovation from many of the countries’ leading suppliers.

“We are launching the new Punch Wine Club and our Partners can take advantage of additional savings of up to £6,000 off non-drink related items, such as utilities and design and print services.

“Every year, we have seen the roadshow grow in popularity and footfall. Following the positive feedback from the opening event, we expect this year’s roadshow to be our most successful yet.”

The Punch Taverns roadshow takes place nationwide, opening at 10:30am and finishing at 4pm at each venue.
