Alongside the John Lewis Christmas campaign, Coca-Cola’s Santa’s truck ad is always a sure sign that the “holidays are coming.”

The company released this year’s classic truck campaign last week, during X-Factor - but has also just announced details of a brand new festive ad.

“Shooting Star” will be unveiled on Saturday 23 November and shows people carrying out kind acts, set to a soundtrack by Elvis Presley.

“Coca-Cola has become synonymous with spreading festive cheer and our Christmas campaigns, old and new, mark the unofficial countdown to Christmas,” said Nick Canney, VP sales and marketing at Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE).

Festive push

“Shooting Star's central creative remains true to the brand's core values of spreading happiness around the world.”

According to the company the new-look ad opens with a scene featuring Santa working hard to create a shooting star in his workshop, which then, “acts as a catalyst for inspiring people to perform random acts of kindness, including allowing your best friend to take the winning goal, or a father buying his son his first car.

Coca-Cola Christmas trucks will also be setting off on a tour of the UK in the next few weeks, as part of the festive push.

This year they will visit the “kindest hotspots and cities in the country,” which were identified through research carried out by the company.

A dedicated area will be set up on the brand’s website, CokeZone, highlighting where the truck will be during the tour.

This summer the company brought its successful "Share a Coke" campaign, which saw the Coca-Cola logo replaced with people's names, into pubs by running a competition for customers to win glass bottles featuring their own name.

It also revealed it believes there is a £2.1 billion growth opportunity for further growth in soft drinks.
