The Porter in Bath has reopened as an all-day eating and drinking venue.

Businessman Giles Thomas has bought the pub and is spending £500,000 on a major refurbishment. Clayton’s Kitchen restaurant on the ground floorm run by two-Michelin-starred ched Rob Clayton, will serve a gastropub-style menu. Clayton has previously been executive chef at Merchant Inns.

There is a relaxed bar area on the first floor, private dining and conference rooms on the top floor and an underground bar with live music.

The venue opens at 8am for breakfast and coffee and serves post-work cocktails in the evening.

Thomas also owns the Halcyon Hotel and Circo Bar in South Parade.
