Welcome to the Publican’s Morning Advertiser’s inaugural weekly PubFood newsletter.
Every Tuesday the expert team behind the Publican’s Morning Advertisers’ PubFood section will be bringing you all the latest industry news, business and menu ideas, market insights and new product information to help you drive your pub’s food business.
The newsletter will also include insights on market trends and opinion from industry experts. We will also be looking at ideas on how licensees can maximise the opportunity to boost business and raise their pub’s profile that national food events provide.
Ok some of these are a little spurious ( I can’t see many pubs rushing to capitalise on the marketing potential of Canned Food Week in April or Split Pea Soup Week in November!), but there are some well-established national food weeks that really capture the public’s hearts and minds and can help excite customers to come and visit your pub.
Maximise key events
British Pie Week, which runs until Sunday, is one such week worth putting on your pub’s event calendar. The week, which is now in its seventh year, provides a great marketing tool for this pub classic, which the majority of pub’s already offer on their menus.
Each year pub caterers are coming up with creative ways to make the most of pie week, such as running a customer competition to decide which flavours will be offered during pie week, mini pie and beer flights, pie and mash boards, pie themed quizzes, limited edition pies for the week and sharing pies.
These type of ideas help generate excellent PR for the pub, give your team the opportunity to get creative and have some fun and most importantly help to drive food and drink sales.
There are plenty of other great events coming up during the year, such as British Pub Week, National Sandwich Week, British Food Fortnight, British Sausage Week and National Curry Week, so start planning now and make them memorable dates for your business and customers.
