Thwaites launches Spinal Tap-themed ale
The rock ‘n’ roll brew has been created in homage of classic mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
The brewer describes the 6.5& ABV Double IPA, which is available throughout May, as having “intense bitter notes, offset by distinct pine flavours, with spicy and grapefruit overtones”.
Lee Williams, marketing manager at Thwaites, said: “The Spinal Tap movie is such a great film and we couldn’t resist creating a beer to commemorate its 30th Anniversary. Of all the scenes in the film, everyone remembers the ‘louder than 10’ dialogue, so it seemed the perfect name for this full-on ale.
“Because we really wanted to dial it up to 11, we’ve made the beer a Double IPA – one better if you will. It’s a beer that certainly hits all the top notes.”
Louder Than 10 is brewed in Thwaites’ Brew House, Crafty Dan, and is its eighth Signature Ale to hit the market in 2014.
