A Hampshire pub relived the swinging sixties in more ways than one when it served up 10p pints to mark 45 years of being in business.

Jonathan and Domenika Westmacott, owners of the Hunters Inn in Swanmore, Southampton, decided to wind prices back to 1969 on Friday – the  same year Jonathan’s parents David and Krithea Westmacott became landlord and landlady.

Customers were charged 10p for a pint of Fosters, glass of babysham or sherry, 45p for steak and kidney pie, 55p for scampi and 75p for gammon. “It’s a rare occasion to have a pub [in the family] for 45 years so we decided to celebrate,” Domenika said. Customers were asked to make a £2 minimum donation to cancer charity Macmillan and were limited to two 10p drinks.

Jonathan took over the running of the pub from his parents in 1971 aged 21.
