A London-based pie maker has made its products available through the wholesale channel for the first time.

Square Pie, which operates five casual dining outlets throughout the capital, has launched its Canapies range via Brakes.

Served hot or cold, Canapies are three bite-sized pies that work equally well as buffet food, as part of a sharing platter, or as a trio in a main meal.

The mini pies come in a range of flavours, including chicken and mushroom, steak and ale, spinach, sweet potato and goat’s cheese, and chicken Balti. Made from British ingredients when seasonally available, they contain no artificial additives or hydrogenated fats.

No brainer

Square Pie founder Martin Dewey said the Brakes tie-up was a “no-brainer”, and he believed that Canapies would work well in pubs and bars.

He explained: “After launching Canapies at our five pie restaurants six months ago, we soon realised that their huge success and popularity was down to their wide versatility.

“As well as enjoying them with our famous mash and peas on the side, our customers have been pre-ordering them for weddings, birthday parties, office celebrations and dinner parties.”

Canapies can be ordered wholesale in boxes of 40 from Brakes, or by contacting Square Pie directly.

Founded in 2001, Square Pie operates outlets in Old Spitalfields Market, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, Excel Exhibition Centre and, most recently, Westfield Stratford.
