The company behind greaseproof paper brand the Daily Catch has launched a new stock range of papers.

The Gourmet Food Wrap Company – the greaseproof paper printing division of Chevler – has also revamped its website and is embarking on an extensive marketing campaign to promote the range.

Based in Mid-Glamorgan, Wales, the company offers environmentally-friendly, custom printed natural greaseproof paper in stock form and as a bespoke service.

The paper can be used to hold food in wraps, as a liner for wire baskets and stainless steel buckets, with wooden boards or slates, or as placemats and printed menus.

Marketing manager Garry Parker said the company believed it was time to update the rest of the stock range, because “there are probably thousands of businesses out there, particularly smaller, independently-owned food retailers, who may feel that they are not quite ready to take the plunge and order a bespoke product.”

These range from bakers, butchers, delis, fine food retailers, cafes and coffee shops to restaurants and fast food retailers all looking for the ideal food wrapping solution, he added.

Turnover doubled

Parker explained that the company had recently doubled its turnover following the integration of Cardiff-based Lovely Packaging – which it bought in 2012 – into the business.

He said: “Much of this growth was driven by our bespoke service to the hospitality sector, which quickly latched onto how environmentally-friendly, custom printed natural greaseproof paper provides all types of pubs, restaurants and hotels with a distinctive and highly cost-effective way of promoting their brand.”

Parker added: “Sales of the Daily Catch, which is extensively used as a liner by many gastropubs, casual dining outlets and even traditional fish and chip shops to recreate the tradition of wrapping fish and chips in newspaper, also took-off.”

“We have specific designs for all types of food, and retailers can create their own unique design using their logo or brand message,” Parker added.

The minimum order from the company’s distributors is 500 sheets and most of the range will be available in two sizes – 255x406mm and 255x203mm. A special sized burger sheet, measuring 320x320mm, will also be available off-the-shelf.

The Gourmet Food Wrap Company’s natural greaseproof paper does not have any chemical treatments or coatings, making it fully recyclable.

The paper is sourced from mills using raw material from sustainably-managed forests internationally accredited by the FSC.
