A pub has turned back the seasons by hosting a Christmas party in May -  complete with snow, stuffing and Santa Claus.

The Mill at Elstead in Surrey was completely flooded during the festive washout and did not re-open until April.

The pub’s landlord and lady, Jeff and Georgia Watts, wanted to recreate some festive cheer for those who had booked Christmas Day lunch with them. As well as serving a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, Santa Claus himself made a special appearance.

The Grade-II listed Mill underwent a floor to ceiling renovation and took the opportunity to revamp its menu.

Anniversary

The Watts, who met behind the bar and have been running pubs together for over 20 years, have just celebrated their first anniversary at the Mill.

Mr Watts said: “Running The Mill was a dream come true for us. It’s been a challenging first year but we’re so proud of the pub’s new look and we’re very happy to welcome our customers back.”
