Bens Pub Company, which is led by chef Ben Smith, has taken on a second site.

Smith, who was group manager and partner of the Bel and The Dragon Restaurant chain for 12 years, has opened the Spring Inn in Sulhamstead, Berkshire.

He also operates the George Inn in  Wraysbury, which he opened last May.

The Spring Inn will offer morning coffee, afternoon tea, lunch and supper every day.

Smith has brought his head chef from the George at Wraysbury, who trained under Heston Blumenthal. 

Sample dishes includesalt water shrimp & crayfish cocktail, Marie Rose sauce (£ 6.95); tian of home smoked trout with poached pear, ricotta & hazelnut salad (£ 6.95); short rib steak & ale pie with creamy mashed potato (£11.95);  chicken schnitzel, fried egg, iceberg lettuce & Caesar dressing (£12.75) and posh half a roast chicken with sage & onion stuffing, bread sauce & chips (£12.95)

Smith said: “The Spring Inn was in desperate need of love and attention, and I hope that with the new menu and refurbishment it will now achieve its full potential.   The George at Wraysbury has achieved incredible success in just 12 months and my vision is that The Spring Inn will replicate at and quickly become a firm favourite with locals and a visitors alike.”
