Black Sheep Brewery, in conjunction with the Publican’s Morning Advertiser (PMA) gave two lucky readers the flight of a lifetime on the eve of the Tour de France.

The Yorkshire-based brewery ran a competition for licensees to win a two-night stay at Middlethorpe Hall, one of York’s top hotels, plus a helicopter flight around part of the Stage 1 route of the Grand Départ.

Winner Tim McKenna, licensee of the Bulls Head, in Blaby, Leicester, and his partner, Rebekah Henning, also spent Saturday in Masham as guests of the Black Sheep Brewery for Le Grand Party, where up to 20,000 people joined in the celebrations.

Black Sheep sales and marketing director Jo Theakston (pictured, centre) said: “This was one of the most exciting weekends Yorkshire has ever seen and it is hugely rewarding to be able to award this prize, thanks to our competition in the PMA.”

McKenna said: "The helicopter ride was fantastic and took us out across the Yorkshire Dales, Masham and much of the route of Stage 1 of the Grand Depart, and it was a great experience. We had a great day in Masham and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience."
