Brandon Lewis MP has promised that the pub industry will remain “well looked after”, following his promotion to Minister of State for the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) today.

It has not yet been announced who will take over Lewis’ role as community pubs minister but Penny Mourdant and Kris Hopkins, who were both promoted to DCLG yesterday are said to be in the frame.

Lewis simply assured the Publican’s Morning Advertiser that the trade will be in “good hands”.

Lewis was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for DCLG. He will now have responsibility for housing and planning.

The Government reshuffle has also seen Mike Penning promoted to Minister of State at the Home Office and Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice, and Ed Vaizey has been promoted to Minister of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, with responsibility for digital industries.

George Freeman will be a new Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department of Health.

Naive

Posted by Robert Feal-Martinez,

I guess some still haven't learnt the art of cultivating rather than condemning those who can improve or make worse ones life.

Next we will hearing a call to support Labour after all they didn't give us a failed licensing act, a failed SIA, the smoking ban, restrictions on live music, noise pollution legislation and much more.

Vacuous

Posted by david,

A classically vacuous statement from the useless, laughingly entitled "community pubs minister".

Without knowing even whether the vacated post will still exist, the fool assures us "it will be in safe hands".
